Suggestions For After An Auto Accident, Property Or Liability Loss.
After An Auto Accident
Call an ambulance for anyone seriously injured.
Call Police, even for a minor accident.
Obtain names, addresses and phone numbers of all persons in the other vehicle.
Obtain the make, model, color, license plate number and state of registration of the other vehicle.
Obtain other parties' Insurance Company name, policy number, agent and phone number.
Do not admit responsibility or sign any statement, except for the Company Claim Representative.
Do not disclose your policy limits to anyone.
List the date, time, place of accident, responding Police Department, and if any tickets were issued and to whom.
Obtain names, addresses and phone numbers of all witnesses.
Report the claim immediately to your agent. If unable to contact agent in a timely manner, report claim to your insurance company by calling 24-hour claim phone number.
After A Property Loss
Report any burglary or theft to the Police immediately.
Take appropriate steps to protect the property from further damage. For example, if windows are broken, have them boarded up to protect your home and property against vandalism or weather damage.
Determine the damage to your personal property (contents). Make a written list of what was damaged. To be as accurate as possible, please include the manufacturer, brand name along with place and date of purchase.
Please do not make any permanent repairs until the Insurance Adjuster has had a chance to review the damage.
Save all receipts for any temporary repairs that you make.
Report the claim immediately to your agent. If unable to contact agent in a timely manner, report claim to your insurance company by calling 24-hour claim phone number.
After A Liability Loss
